Analyst Frankfurt, Germany August 2026

Over the past five years, the aerospace industry in Germany has been significantly shaped by the intense competition between Airbus and Boeing. Quality issues, particularly with Boeing’s 737 MAX series, led to a lasting loss of confidence among customers and fuelled increased demand for Airbus passenger aircraft. The sector benefited from the expansion of low-cost carriers, which gave a significant boost to demand, in particular, for standard routes and short- to medium-haul models in the Airbus A320 family. At the same time, rising defence spending and large-scale orders from the military and satellite sectors provided further impetus for growth. Over the past five years, the sector’s turnover has risen by an average of 4.3% per year and is forecast to reach 40.3 billion euros in 2026.
