China's Solid Waste Recycling industry's revenue is expected to increase at an annualized 8.5% over the five years through 2023, to $27.2 billion. This includes anticipated growth of 6.6% in the current year. Although China's economic growth has slowed, increased environmental consciousness, high demand for limited resources and the country's ongoing urbanization have supported the industry's development. In particular, large downstream markets, especially the manufacturing sector, have developed rapidly and stimulated the industry. For more than a decade, rising solid waste volumes from the household and industrial sectors have driven industry growth. Increasing waste volumes and complexity have followed from stronger economic conditions.China has made comprehensive resource utilization part of ecological civilization, and the government has continued to perfect rules and technologies that promote resource utilization development. By the end of 2019, bulk solid waste utilization rates reached 55.0%, up 5.0% from 2015. The utilization rate of gangue, fly ash, industrial by-product gypsum and straw was 70.0%, 78.0%, 70.0% and 86.0% respectively. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, solid waste utilization volumes totaled 13.0 million tons, and decreased land occupation of more than 666.7 million square meters.Industry revenue is forecast to rise at an annualized 6.0% over the five years through 2028, to $36.3 billion. Continued urbanization and a rising emphasis on environmental protection and resource reclamation are anticipated to drive industry growth in the coming years. However, industry growth is projected to be slower than over the past five years due to China's slower economic growth and increased controls in some downstream sectors, particularly in manufacturing.
Industry revenue has grown at a CAGR of 8.5 % over the past five years, to reach an estimated $27.2bn in 2024.
Market size is projected to grow over the next five years.
