Nucor announced plans for a new steel mill in West Virginia

In January 2022, Nucor announced West Virginia has the home for its upcoming sheet steel mill, a $2.7 billion investment for the company. The new sheet steel mill is planned to produce sustainable steel totaling up to 3.0 million tons of sheet steel annually for use in automotive, appliance, HVAC, heavy equipment, agricultural, transportation and construction markets. The facility will also have downstream processing capabilities to produce a high-end automotive line and a construction-grade line. Nucor plans to have the new facility open in 2024.
