Paint Manufacturing in Canada Industry Data and Analysis

OE
Olivia Eckstein
Analyst New York, United States December 2025

Canada’s paint manufacturing industry has spent the past five years contending with volatile raw material prices, regulatory tightening and shifting construction market conditions. Price spikes in essential inputs like titanium dioxide and epoxy resin disrupted cost structures and squeezed profitability as manufacturers struggled to compete with lower-cost imports from the United States, which now supply nearly 50% of domestic demand. At the same time, weak residential construction activity and ongoing labour shortages have constrained output, even as manufacturers invested in automation and reformulation technologies to remain competitive. Despite these headwinds, the industry managed modest growth as price pass-throughs and product innovation offset weaker volume gains. Revenue has been expanding at a CAGR of 2.0% and is expected to reach $3.2 billion in 2025, when revenue will rise by an estimated 1.8%.
