Vivendi increases international expansion, shifts focus
As UMG was historically Vivendi’s largest business segment, reducing its ownership by 90% resulted in a significant shift away from music, and required a shift toward other media. As an international company, Vivendi spent recent years acquiring content producers globally, including the €900m purchase of French Publisher Editis, the acquisition of ROK, Nigeria’s largest production studio (both 2019), and increasing investment in Italian media company Mediaset, and South Africa’s MultiChoice.
