Hard Disk Drives - Recent Price Trend

In the three years to 2017, the average price of HDDs has been falling rapidly at an estimated annualized rate of 8.7%. About this Report

This report is intended to assist buyers of hard disk drives (HDDs). HDDs are high-capacity, self-contained computer memory storage devices that use several disks, or platters, to store data. HDDs employ a read-write mechanism where information from the rapidly rotating internal disk is retrieved using a magnetic head on a moving actuator arm, which reads and writes data to the surface of the platter. HDDs use random access memory, where individual blocks of data are stored and retrieved in any order, allowing it to store memory even when the device is turned off. Computers, laptops, servers and other computer-based devices use HDDs. Buyers of HDDs are consumers, businesses and government agencies. This report does not cover solid-state drives (SSDs), flash memory devices or floppy disks.
