This month, we caught up with Ken Waghorne, VP & Practice Leader for Global Packaging Paper Economics Team at RISI, to find out what’s going on in the research world.
IBISWorld: What challenge(s) do you and your company or department face right now?
Ken Waghorne: Remaining profitable in an era of industry consolidation and uneven economic growth around the globe.
IW: How does/might IBISWorld help you overcome this challenge?
KW: IBISWorld has helped to supplement our team’s data needs in various end-use markets for paper packaging materials.
IW: What do you foresee happening in your industry within the next year?
KW: The prospects for the North American paper packaging markets are positive for the next year, while uncertainties abound in many other parts of the world. A key question will remain whether paper packaging can ever take advantage of being one of the greenest products around.
IW: Tell us something interesting about yourself (hobbies, experiences, travel, etc.)
KW: My wife and I are enjoying the shift from the hectic time of raising two teenagers to the somewhat more relaxed stance watching them face the challenges of entering the real world. Recreational travel will soon be transitioning to the search for a nice place to live when we have more time for hobbies such as photography or kayaking.
