Caltex Australia Limited - Products & Brands

Caltex refines, supplies and markets petroleum, fuels, and related products in Australia and New Zealand. The company's operations are divided into the following activities:

  • Fuels and Infrastructure

Caltex sources crude oil and refined products from the global market and now operates from one oil refinery in Lytton, Queensland. This facility refines crude oil into petrol, biofuel, diesel, jet fuel and other specialty products such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG). These products are supplied through various methods such as pipelines, depots, terminals and fleets. In October 2014 Caltex's second oil refinery at Kurnell, New South Wales was shut down and work commenced to convert it into a fuel import terminal. Caltex buys petroleum products from overseas through its shipping and trading entity Ampol based in Singapore.

  • Convenience Retail

Caltex's Convenience Retail business includes the operation of service stations and convenience stores across Australia branded Caltex, Caltex Woolworths, StarMart and The Foodary, and in New Zealand through the Gull brand. These service stations retail fuel, automotive products, groceries, fast foods and other goods while some offer automotive service and car wash facilities. Caltex has a network of 1,900 service stations with 800 retail sites being Caltex controlled and the remainder operated by franchisees or independent resellers.

  • Other Products and Services

Caltex offers business services such as on-site refuelling, telematics, soil remediation, fuel retailing, engineering consulting pertaining to coolant, grease, oil and hydrocarbon management, and national marine refuelling. Caltex also operates reselling depots and a national truck network across Australia as well as Caltex branded payment options such as StarCard.
