About This ReportRelated ReportsTable of Contents

This report is intended to help buyers of flame-resistant (FR) uniforms. FR uniforms are constructed from materials that can deter fire from spreading and resist ignition. Flame-retardant substances are applied to the fabric of these uniforms to create flame resistance. Once the fire source is removed, FR uniforms will self-extinguish. FR uniforms are used in occupations involving high-temperature hazardous environments, such as electrical work, welding and oil refining. FR uniforms provide protection against a flash fire and electric arc flash and help mitigate burn injury from a thermal exposure. This report excludes firefighting clothes, such as turnout and extrication coveralls, jackets and coats.
