Live performance theaters are located throughout the United States, in urban and rural areas. The majority of theaters are located in the most populous states, though, including California, New York, Texas, Florida and Illinois. These five states account for an estimated 50.0% of industry establishments. Over the past five years, the number of theaters has grown, especially in previously underserved states like Nevada, Arkansas, Utah, Colorado and Idaho.
