Industry Analysis & Industry Trends
Getting pumped up again
The industry was particularly hard hit by declines in construction machinery manufacturing resulting from the historic slump in construction activity. Across all industries, manufacturers of hydraulic machinery lowered or canceled purchases of hydraulic motors and pumps. The industry rebounded in 2010, though, largely driven by exports as industrial and construction activity recovered faster in emerging economies. The strength of major export markets helped mitigate the fall in demand during the past five years and will continue to do so in the coming years.... purchase to read more
Industry Report - Industry Products Chapter
The manufacturing of hydraulic pumps comprises 66.9% of industry revenue. Pumps are mechanical devices that apply pressure to the hydraulic fluid as a way to transfer energy across the hydraulic drive.
Reciprocating pumps
The largest segment of revenue for this industry, at 44.1%, comes from sales of reciprocating pumps. Reciprocating pumps are pumps that move fluid through the use of oscillating pistons, plungers or diaphragms. Reciprocating pumps are popular due to their simplicity, durability and wide array of applications.
Rotary and other pumps
All other hydraulic pumps comprise 22.8% of industry revenue. Rotary pumps are the most popular type of pump outside of reciprocating pumps. The... purchase to read more
