About IBISWorld Industry Reports

Winds of change

With consumers becoming more budget and health-conscious, industry operators are changing their game plan. Increasing competition in an already struggling market will cause fast food restaurants to change their menus and broaden their product offering in order to stay afloat. Moreover, some businesses will expand internationally to areas without market saturation. These strategies will lead to moderate revenue growth, but operators will continue to struggle in the intensely competitive market.

In-depth industry market research presented in a logical and consistent format. Including 40 pages of insights covering industry conditions, key statistics, competitor analysis and market share, product and customer segmentation and a 5 year forecast.

DEFINITION

At industry businesses, patrons pay before eating. Purchases may be consumed on-site, taken out or delivered. Some establishments also sell alcohol. Gross sales come from franchises and company-owned stores. Officially reported SEC company revenue (net revenue) refers to revenue obtained only from company-owned stores and franchise fees. Franchised stores' gross sales revenue is not available to the franchisor. Net revenue is therefore always less than gross revenue.
