Over the five years to 2011, the Cookbook Publishing industry has transitioned toward a more dispersed business landscape as independent and online book publishing have become increasingly popular. During this time, the industry's presence has decreased most rapidly in the Mid-Atlantic region, especially in New York and New Jersey. Still, these two states have relatively high industry employment levels at 18.9% and 7.4%, respectively. Overall, the Mid-Atlantic region employs 32.7% of industry workers. The Great Lakes region follows, employing 18.7% of industry workers.
