TV transmission is the industry's main product segment, accounting for an estimated 80% of industry revenue in 2011. Firms in this segment operate TV transmission studios and facilities for the programming and broadcasting of TV content to the public. Programming may originate in their own studios, from an affiliated network or from external sources. China had a total of 16,000 TV transmitting stations and relay stations in 2010.
