Gas pipeline networks are the largest service segment of this industry, accounting for an estimated 53.0% of industry revenue in 2012. All large cities and most medium-sized cities in China have existing gas pipeline networks. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the total number of people who used fuel gas in 2008 was 543 million, about 40.9% of the total population.
