Industry Analysis & Industry Trends
Revenue of the Hydroelectric Power industry in China is expected to total $27.74 billion by the end of 2011, having decreased by 1.8% from 2010. Due to the lack of precipitation over many river basins, water resources in these rivers were reduced by more than 15%. This directly influenced the output in this industry. In 2011, the industry was estimated to only generate 655.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, down 1.0% from 2010.
In 2010, the industry generated 662.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, up 19.4% for the year. The Chinese Government encourages the development of hydroelectric power generation, and although its current share of total power generation is relatively low at about 17.1%, it will gradually increase.... purchase to read more
