Despite negative effects from the global financial crisis, the Chemical Pesticide Manufacturing industry in China maintained strong growth in 2008, with industry revenue increasing by 34.7%. However, weaker industry performance toward the end of 2008 continued in 2009. Average chemical pesticide prices dropped significantly in 2009 due to weaker demand and lower raw material prices. Therefore, despite growth in chemical pesticide output of 18.9% in 2009, industry revenue declined by 9.9%, which was also attributable to export declines.
