Industry Analysis & Industry Trends
The Building Lighting Control System Manufacturing industry's performance has been a mixed bag over the past five years. During the period, revenue is estimated to fall at an average annual rate of 4.1%. In late 2007, the industry's performance soured; as downstream demand from non-residential and residential construction plummeted, revenue declined steeply during the recession. Industry Report - Industry Products Chapter
While industry participants all offer the ability to strategically reduce light usage and energy consumption, the tools employed by those products vary. The most common strategies used by lighting control systems are manual control (55.0% of revenue), occupancy sensing (15.0%) and time scheduling (12.0%). Their relative usage is primarily a function of their installation costs, with manual control being the least expensive. Following these segments, daylight harvesting (i.e. the manipulation of lighting and window-blinds to maximize natural light usage) is growing in importance, comprising 8.0% of the market... purchase to read more
