A number of new technologies will affect airport operations in the next five years. These technologies include the introduction and wider use of new aircraft such as the Airbus A380 (already in service) and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner (which is expected to ship in late 2011). These two aircraft will expand passenger airline capacity and fuel efficiency, increasing infrastructure spending and the number of passengers at airports. The Airbus A380 has already required airports to expand the width of runways and provide other specialist infrastructure.
